Haven't seen the late Pirate Mick Green mentioned yet. His influence has been well established.

Randy Rhoads would have been one of the best. Robert Johnson i managed to get hold of a cleaned up version of his playing. How much is affected by the clean up i don't know but it sounded superb. Can't believe anyone could make that sound on acoustic.
Of Chuck Berry and Link Wrays rumble must be mentioned.

Not according to the Kinks, who deny he was even in the studio. Even Ray and Dave Davies agree on that. Shel Talmy, the producer, thinks he 'might' have played rhythm on 'four of five songs' when Ray Davies wanted to concentrate on singing.
Page is a plagiarist and a cunt. In addition to his crimes against Willie Dixon, Bert Jansch et al, he let the widespread rumour that he played the solo and riff on You Really Got Me stand uncorrected for 20 years. AAFCOAM.

Seems like Jimmy Page played guitar on a whole bunch of 60's hits by Then and the Kinks and others. Chuck Berry needs a mention as does Robert Johnson

Jimmy Page? Look at the original composer credits on Led Zeps I and II. All Page, Plant (and sometimes Jones and Bonham) Now look at them today.

There is ongoing litigation over several more.
And YouTube is your friend:
Here's the Small Faces 'You Need Loving' from 1966 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_pYjcoXG5c
Now listen to 'Whole Lotta Love' from 1969 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mln0RciE2o0
To be fair, the Small Faces nicked it from Muddy Waters in the first place. 'You Need Love' from 1963 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM8_HuQ0b34

Yes, I know it's a cover. He is often named in many guitarists guitarist lists.
How much fun is he having? Lots!

Listening to Eurption for the first time blew my bollocks off. That's really up the. Not so much for the 'tapping' , but the harmonics and whammy bar dives.

I'm listening to Prince's new stuff now. Great stuff but I dot think he's an influential guitarist. Influential artist yes. I would suggest Jimmy Nolen is far more influential.

"Jimmy Page was a great technical guitarist"
I'll agree to differ. Technically, Page was often all over the place. What he is/was is a great composer, producer and leader. Some of his solos are shockingly out of time or out of tune. Sure WHO people will mention "Stairway..." as a great solo, but that was melded from 3 to 4 different takes, cos he kept getting it wrong. Even he's admitted that.
But he was influential.Even though he stole a lot from BERT JANSCH and HUBERT SUMLIN.
